The Topps Apps Division is looking for a Sports Apps Communications Manager who lives and breathes sports. An effective communicator who revels in the emotional roller coaster that makes major sports so captivating to so many. A candidate who has a strong pulse on the latest news, trade rumors, rising talent, and locker room drama as they translate to the never-ending news cycles that permeate social media and beyond for sports fans everywhere.

Whether football, baseball, soccer, or hockey, the team is looking for a social media guru who understands the power and influence of social media and excels as a go-to resource for our dedicated sports fanbase. This person must be in the mix 24/7, always on, and constantly looking to leverage the amazing collectible content coming out of the Topps Apps portfolio. The ideal candidate can digest and relay this information in a clear, concise, engaging, and effective way to a strong collecting community that grows every day.

Each app tells a story, and with that looks to social media, email, and in-app communications as ways to amplify that message through release information, original content, Q&A, surveys, giveaways and more. This position would report to the Director of Marketing and will work in tandem with our Entertainment Apps Communications Manager, where applicable.


  • Effectively communicate pertinent information to user base/social media following
    • App launches, content releases, maintenance windows, giveaways, etc.
  • Manage, and effectively grow social media presence for all 4 sports apps in portfolio:
    • Topps MLB BUNT, Topps KICK, Topps NFL HUDDLE, Topps NHL SKATE
  • Maintain an active and consistent presence on all relevant app social channels
  • Spearhead the creation of engaging original content, leveraging app content, hashtags, special events, league happenings, etc.
  • Desire to become the figure head for our Sports App portfolio.
    • Conduct live streams, interviews, short-form content, Q&A s, and more.
  • Work with marketing team to create multi-channel campaigns to promote app content
  • Work with app teams to collect content for bi-weekly email marketing campaigns
    • Collect content, work with design to create graphics, copy, etc.
  • Relay app issues, user questions, comments, etc. to relevant internal teams
  • Leverage Digital App presence at major sports events to create all-encompassing marketing programs to amplify messaging, promotions, reach, etc.
    • NHL Fan Fair, MLB All Star Weekend, NFL Draft, etc.
  • Work with Topps physical card and candy divisions on unified messaging, cross-promotions, event activities, where applicable.

Required Skillset:

  • Effective communicator with strong public speaking & writing skills
  • 3-4 years social media or relevant consumer-facing communications experience
  • Familiarity with social media schedulers such as Hoot Suite, Buffer, etc.
  • Previous experience in mobile gaming, sports, entertainment, collectibles a plus!
  • Strong pulse on major league sports happenings, events, news:
    • NFL, MLB, NHL, NBA, MLS, European Soccer, eSports
  • Familiarity with mobile app, industry terms and processes is a plus
    • e. installs, retention, cohorts, IAP, IAM, QA, App Store components, etc.
  • Familiarity with physical and/or digital collectibles eco-system
    • Scarcity, rarity, card counts, limited editions, variants, parallels, etc.
