Real Estate Debt MIM offers investors a Commercial Mortgage strategy that seeks to identify lower-leveraged mortgages that offer higher relative value and greater protection from default risk. Our commercial mortgage business is majority primary markets, with select secondary and tertiary markets. We focus on institutional quality office buildings, retail centers, apartment complexes, industrial properties and hotels. Professionals in MIM's regional field office network solicit, underwrite and process the loans and have in-depth real estate knowledge and longstanding industry relationships. Global Real Estate and Agricultural Investments sources and manages commercial real estate investments through seven regional field offices in the U.S. and International field offices in London, Tokyo, Mexico City and Santiago. The seven U.S. regions are headquartered in Chicago, Dallas, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Atlanta, Washington DC, and Whippany, NJ. The Role: The Director, Head of Loan Management and Servicing, is responsible for a wide range of functions specific to the servicing and administration of MetLife Investment Management's $62+ billion commercial mortgage portfolio. As the primary liaison between the third party shared servicers and MetLife's global loan asset managers, this position will collaborate with and direct our US and international regional offices to ensure consistent and best in class loan asset management for MetLife's debt investment management platform. Reporting directly to the Managing Director and Portfolio Manager for Real Estate Debt Strategies, this person will be a strategic partner in ensuring we have the right operational structure and approach to achieve our business growth goals. In addition to best practice knowledge of commercial loan management, the successful candidate will demonstrate strong change management, solutions-orientation, and continuous improvement capabilities critical to MIM's ongoing evolution as a third party asset manager. He or she will be expected to develop and manage effective working relationships with diverse internal and external constituencies, able to thrive in a fluid and fast-changing environment. The Director will co-chair the Loan Management Workstation Steering Committee and manage a small team. Key Responsibilities: Ensure best-in-class loan asset management across MIM's global commercial mortgage portfolio Maximize efficiencies in commercial loan servicing and administration internally and externally to improve scalability and accommodate growth Serve as business owner of loan servicing system that delivers portfolio value and operational excellence Lead cross-functional steering committee to enhance our processes in response to our evolving business Evaluate and update internal loan administration policies and procedures to ensure requirements meet the needs of all assets under management Maintain market leadership through active participation in industry organizations Manage and develop direct report Partner with, advise, and support MIM Global Real Estate and Debt Strategies Identify best practices and drive consistency across regional Loan Asset Managers and Originators in 7 US and 3 international offices Manage frequent ad hoc requests related to the commercial loan portfolio Act as point of consultation for agricultural loans Oversee third party shared service provider relationships and performance Direct and manage third party shared servicer platforms to ensure compliance with contracts and processes in support of business needs Act as relationship manager between third party servicers and regional offices Oversee periodic internal and external audits of the third party servicers Evolve loan management capabilities to support MIM growth Work with key business partners in response to the changing needs of our business as we grow the MetLife Investment Management debt platform, e.g. Legal, Accounting, Treasury, Finance, Risk Management and Technology Assist in the development of new products to ensure systems and processes comply with all investor requirements Partner with teams in payment remittance processes to ensure investors are provided accurate and complete reporting Key Relationships: Reports to: MD, Portfolio Manager, Real Estate Debt Strategies Direct reports/team: 1 Key Stakeholders: Debt Strategies Group leadership, Regional Office Directors, Loan Asset Managers and Originators, Global Real Estate leadership, Legal, Technology & Operations, Treasury & Finance, Agricultural Investments team; externally, third party servicers Candidate Qualifications: Essential Business Experience and Technical Skills: 7+ years of relevant, senior experience in commercial real estate loan asset management and servicing of similar scope and scale, ideally both as principal and for investors Direct and influence leadership skills and managerial experience; proven change management Strategic and analytical thinking combined with solutions-orientation and ability to execute Strong vendor management experience, including relationship oversight and performance accountability Understanding of reporting requirements and operational guidelines related to 3rd party institutional investors Excellent project management, organizational skills, and agility; adept at managing multiple projects and constituencies concurrently Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills at executive levels Organizational intelligence; comfortable working within a highly-collaborative, matrixed firm Proven ability to develop effective cross-functional partnerships (e.g. Legal, Accounting, Technology, etc) Demonstrated technology skills including proficiency with Excel, Word, PowerPoint and the ability to quickly master proprietary internal systemsSalary Range: NAMinimum Qualification8 - 10 years
