The Materials Manager aligns closely with operations, engineering, customer service, sales and other functional units in driving the purchase of raw materials and other related items, as well as highly efficient and effective production scheduling in support of the overall goals, objectives, mission, and vision of the organization.
Procurement (Strategic & Tactical) – Inventory Control:
Apply procurement strategies and create and implement new strategies that enhance competitive advantage for the company and its customers.
Provide risk and cost management in the development and maintenance of strategic supplier relationships.
Manage supplier base to ensure an appropriate supply of materials and related items to meet current and future production needs.
Follow up with supplier deliveries and expediting or pushing out deliveries as required.
Manage production schedule to raw material availability dates.
Develop and implement cost savings and reduction plans.
Manage and review stocking programs through Epicor with Program Manager and Customer Service Representatives.
Manage and maintain sharp focus on inventory levels and the implications thereof, as well as reducing excess inventory.
Facilitate and participate in routine production planning and shipment meetings.
Proactively identify risk to the supply chain, supply, and cost and lead times.
Develop and implement effective negotiating strategies.
Recommend and utilize continuous improvement and standardization processes and systems including Kanban, EOQ and ABC inventory analysis for optimal production efficiency.
Review of Kanban items quarterly and on a periodic basis.
Foster professional relationships with and manage the company’s outsourcing partners.
Establish and manage accurate production schedules and related operations utilizing a fully integrated ERP system in a 24/5 environment.
Publish and maintain lead times.
Provide plant priority and support.
Optimize schedule to run mold/option by customer requirement dates.
Manage customer demand through Epicor forecasting and other methods.
Participate in, review and advise on capacity planning.
Experience in an injection molding environment.
Proven history of developing and fostering strategic vendor/supplier relationships.
Experience managing secondary processes/outsourcing.
Prior experience with purchasing and procuring raw materials and others.
Ability to make difficult decisions, maintain decorum and work in a very fast paced environment. Ability to push through difficult and stressful situations.
Intermediate or advanced level technical ability. Particular expertise in ERP and or CRM systems, Microsoft Office Suite, Internet required.
Proven team player and a sharp focus on customer service and satisfaction.
Ability to successfully work both collaboratively and autonomously.
Strong organization, follow-up and time management skills along with the ability to effectively multi-task.
A high level of trustworthiness and the ability to achieve integrity on all levels.
EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE:
5-7 years of experience in procurement, production scheduling and inventory control.
· Bachelor of Science Degree in business or operations field such as: supply chain, management, or engineering; APICS certification required.
